It goes without saying that, if you’re a Northern Quarter regular, you’ve probably sat outside Quarter House on many a summer’s evening catching the final rays and seeing day turn to night over some bevs with your mates.

It’s a blissful setting that holds a special place in the hearts of many city folk, but the space isn’t just a bar – it also serves a great menu of barbecued food and pub snacks from Love From The Streets who have taken over the venue’s kitchen.

The menu is vast with a bit of something for everyone, including; tacos, wings, sharing meat platters, flatbreads, steaks, burgers, meat trays, loaded fries and more. When we made the trip our favourite dishes were the JFC Chicken Tray and Brisket Loaded Fries

The tray comes packed with two pieces of boneless JFC fried chicken, smoked honey red BBQ chicken wings and a pot of the famous JFC chicken gravy. It’s then accompanied by sides of slaws, pickled chilli, BBQ sweetcorn in smoked garlic butter, pink onions and seasoned skin on fries.

The fries are a great grazing dish alongside a couple of pints. Crispy fries are then topped with smoked pulled brisket, Honey Red BBQ sauce, spring onion, crispy shallots, pink onion, coriander, jalapenos and a splash of South of the Border sauce.

The restaurant is headed up by chef, Jason Latham, who is known as the ultimate BBQ pit master with over 25 years’ experience in commercial kitchens. The mastermind behind the Quarter House’s Beer & BBQ concept, he is also the former pit-master at MCR Smoke House, 3twentyone Smoke House & Grill, as well as numerous other beloved North West restaurants.

The award-winning chef has now taken all his experience and skill and launched Backyard Barbeque School, too. Aimed at helping people use and understand live fire cooking equipment, the class suits all levels, from complete beginner to seasoned professionals.

With 14 different draught beers from international and local breweries and over 20 bottles available, Quarter House makes for a great all round destination for a catch up with mates or an evening in the sunshine in one of the city centre’s biggest beer gardens.

The Stevenson Square bar is open 7 days a week, Monday – Thursday 12pm – midnight, Friday and Saturday 12pm – 2am and Sunday 10am – 10pm.
