Fifteen Manchester bars are set to take part in a week-long, mile-long margarita crawl to celebrate Margarita Day (22 February) and Finest readers can get their margs for a fiver on the big day.

Drinks company Ten Locks which looks after the El Tequileño brand of tequila – produced in the Mexican town of Tequila – and Maldon Salt are behind the Margarita Mile event and they have roped in some of Manchester’s coolest bars to get involved.

Each venue will create its own version of the classic tequila and lime cocktail – using either El Tequileño Blanco, Reposado Tequila or El Tequileño 1959 – for the special event which will be available for one week only from 20-26 February.

The Smithfield Social is doing a different margarita every day of the week, while Fierce’s version will incorporate two of its core beers. Almost Famous has created a pineapple margarita topped with a blue curaçao foam. Feel Good Club is serving up a Toreador which uses Apricot Brandy in place of triple sec and New Century is taking a spicy approach with a Picanté.

First drink: The crawl starts near Piccadilly train station at Ducie Street Warehouse.

Then it’s on to the Northern Quarter as you head to Tariff & Dale, Feel Good Club, Ply, Junior Jacksons, The Daisy, Fierce, Smithfield Social, Almost Famous, Bay Horse Tavern, Liquor & Burn, Wolf At The Door and TROF before heading over to Ramona in Ancoats, famous for its margs.

Last drink: The crawl ends on the other side of town at the beautifully restored and revamped New Century, near Victoria station. So you don’t have far to stagger if you’re going home by train.

Of course, you don’t have to drink fifteen margs in one day, you can create your own version of the crawl by picking your faves. Many of these venues do great food too, which should help with your stamina.

If you are doing the margarita mile on margarita day itself (Wednesday 22 February), all venues will be offering the margs at a discounted price of £5 for Finest readers. Just show them our social media post to get your mates rates price. Please drink responsibly.
