The Gasworks Brewbar, will open on First Street this coming August. The 5,550 square foot venue, built on the old Gaythorn Gasworks site, is an evolution of The Dockyard concept. The craft beer specialists have added their very own six barrel working micro-brewery, where an assembled team of brewers will be concocting and refining their very own recipes for drinkers to watch and taste and joining in with the brewing process.
In addition to their own brews they will offer more generic lagers and ales and true to Dockyard form, will continue to champion their favourite small local brewers such as Brightside and Shindigger, with those brewers coming in house to brew on site.
Owner Steve Pilling said: “With our passion for the raw ingredient and the knowledge and understanding of beer that we’ve built up since opening our first Dockyard, it really felt like a natural progression to start brewing our own.
“When I viewed the First Street site a year ago and started to understand the scope of the development, I knew we had found the right spot to create something unique and as yet unseen in Manchester.”
The range of beers, specialists cask ales and craft ales will be accompanied by a freshly prepared menu, including burgers, pies and sandwiches.
The industrial design, which is sympathetic to the history and provenance of the site will house large format tables, great for groups and will have an 100 cover outside beer terrace.
