Beeswing is an innovative wine bar named after the crust formed on old wines, which resembles the wing of a bee.
It was recently announced that the duo behind the project, Anna (the Founder of wine bar Vin-yard, previously at Hatch) and Joe (of West Didsbury favourite Pinchos tapas bar fame) were getting ready to open the bar at the ever-growing Kampus site.
The aim was for Beeswing to serve wine and small plates out of a trendy new space slap bang in the city centre with serene views of the canal.
To do this sufficiently and make their dream a reality, Anna and Joe are now asking for help in raising £25,000 to contribute to essential works in the kitchen and bar, including ventilation and climate control which is essential in a post-COVID world.
Like many hospitality businesses, Beeswing was hit hard by COVID, as pandemic rules and new council regulations, alongside increased inflation and rising prices of raw materials drove up opening costs dramatically.
Despite raising £135,000 on their own, Anna and Joe’s initial budget has been squeezed beyond any imaginable forecast and they are looking for donations to their Crowdfunder to make sure Kampus can be graced with their friendly community space.
They’re also offering some very generous rewards for those that donate.
If you pledge £25, this will get you a table with wine once Beeswing is open to taste some of Joe’s dishes and provide feedback to help shape the venue’s menu offerings.
£50 means that you’ll receive food and wine for two at Beeswing, which will include 4 share plates and a wine flight each in the shiny new venue! Booking is required before the end of October 2022 to redeem this.
If you donate £150 or more, a ready made feast for up to 6 people will be delivered straight to your door, and £600 plus will get you an office party! The Beeswing team will deliver delicious Mediterranean inspired food and plenty of wine for up to 20 people any day Monday to Friday.
If you’re feeling super generous and can donate £2,500 plus, Beeswing will let you take up the whole place including the terrace, for your celebrations, work event or party.
Speaking about the opening on Crowdfunder, Beeswing said: “We are through and through Mancunian. We have a big-hearted ‘everybody is welcome’ attitude where an hour can spin into several without anyone noticing.
“Come on your own, or with friends. Share a bottle (or two), order a plate or three, or just breeze in for an early morning espresso. We will also have a few vibrant wine shelves if you want to grab a bottle and head home.”
If you can donate to the Crowdfunder, your contributions will ensure that Beeswing can open their vibrant community hub at Kampus, so let’s try and do all we can to get the venue open.
