Since opening in early 2015 in the Northern Quarter, Ziferblat made a splash with a unique pay-per-minute system the likes of which the city had never seen before. Everything is free inside – instead you pay only for the time you spend there – at just 8p per minute.

With wi-fi, newspapers, board games, a piano and record player, 43 kinds of tea, special Ziferblend coffee as well as private meeting rooms and a full programme of events, the cafe has been so successful that they’ve decided to expand to MediaCity with their largest branch yet.

The large sitting room will span the ground and mezzanine floors of Tomorrow, a new creative and tech space at the heart of MediaCityUK. For 8 pence per minute, guests can use the unique co-working space, with unlimited teas, coffees, cakes, biscuits and snacks plus access to Wi-Fi, board games, magazines, and newspapers.

They have also set up a series of events for the new location including secret gigs, yoga classes, film clubs, pop-up food events and themed talks. The branch will also be serving its takeaway Ziferblend coffee on an honesty box basis, whereby guests in a hurry can pay what they believe the coffee is worth as they leave.

Ziferblat MediaCityUK will also have four meeting spaces and two “sheds” which will be used for community events and will be available for private hire. The spaces can accommodate meetings for 2-100 people as well as larger conferences for up to 250 delegates.

Lynn Haime, asset manager for Tomorrow at MediaCityUK, said: “Ziferblat is a hotly anticipated addition to the creative community here at MediaCityUK.”

No doubt this fantastic space will be quickly filled with a wide range of media yuppies – talking briskly about Jeremy Kyle’s new tan, the consistency of the gunge on Swashbuckle and Shane Ward’s fluctuating chest measurements.
