Traditionally speaking, tapas is designed to go with a few drinks at a bar as to keep those Estrella-induced hunger pangs at bay. The word ‘tapa’ translates to cover or lid- which refers to something to pop over the rim of your glass to stop flies from getting in. True story.
The human race has been enjoying tapas since the early 19th century, and we love it so much that we have put aside an entire day to show tapas how much we care. World tapas day falls on 16th June this year, and if there was ever an excuse to gorge yourself on tiny morsels of Spanish flavours it would be this.
Now, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to tapas here in Manchester, but I urge you to look no further than La Bandera. They have a beautiful tapas menu which is traditionally inspired with a little twist from the Canary islands- which makes it unique.
Tuck into succulent chorizo cooked in Rioja red wine, or twice cooked octopus with paprika mashed potatoes and their signature Mojo sauce- which you can read more about here.
Other stand out tapas on the La Bandera menu include the slow-cooked Iberian pig cheeks- which quite frankly, are out of this world- as well as the authentic patatas bravas or the daily-changing Pintox.
Basically, I cannot sing their praises enough, so if you are going to be anywhere this World Tapas Day make it La Bandera. What’s more is that they are doing Manchester’s Finest readers an exclusive deal all next week to celebrate this special day. La Bandera is offering 50% off all tapas* all next week (11th– 15th June) when you use the code ‘LB50MF’ when making an online or telephone booking.
This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other deal at La Bandera.
