I’ve heard enough horror stories about mushrooms to pretty much never bother even thinking about picking some out in the wild and taking them home to cook. Berries too are bad news.

Most of this fear and apprehension comes from being a kid, where you’re told by your parents not to eat anything from the wild because it’ll kill you straight away, which isn’t true for most of the stuff you find in the UK – although some of them will make you pretty sick.

So this online workshops looks set to try to eliminate the fear and difficulty of foraging for wild foods, by showcasing a selection of wild edible mushrooms that are common, identifiable and available in the hedgerow and woodland during Autumn.

It’s aimed at beginners, so you can learn about common fungi that cannot be easily mistaken for hazardous species – meaning you’re not going to die or lose your eyesight or have to have your stomach removed and replaced by a box of tupperware.

Hosted by Bushcraft Tutors & Foragers Dave Watson who has over 30 years of bushcraft experience, and James Kendall, Head Bushcraft Instructor at Woodland Classroom and someone who has worked in environmental education & conservation for over 10 years.

The workshop includes:

* Edible Fungi Identification
* Foraging Tips
* Recipe Ideas
* Poisonous Look-a-likes; what to avoid
* Q&A Session
