Henshaws’ Dinner in the Dark event held in the Albert Square Chop House last week paired wines and dining with the chance to experience what different forms of visual impairments can be like.
Diners were given blindfolds so that they could experience their evening as somebody without sight would, even down to being guided to their table.
The experimental fine dining experience included a delicious four course meal complemented by wines personally chosen by award winning Sommelier, George Bergier.
Between courses guests were entertained with wonderful music performed by Double Edge Musical Theatre, and moved by poetry from the hugely talented Dave Steele whose poems are based around his own experience of sight loss. Dave delivered a poignant reminder of how sight loss can affect people’s lives.
All money raised from the event will go towards supporting the work that Henshaws’ is doing to provide emotional and practical help across the North West of England for adults and children living with a visual impairment.
The charity works in the heart of Greater Manchester communities to ensure that wherever somebody is along their sight loss journey, they can access the support and guidance they need to live life to the fullest.
The sold out event proved to be a huge success, raising £4,000 for the charity to be fed into their life changing services.
