Porta will be serving up authentic, Spanish tapas to the hordes of hungry Salfordians.
The first Porta was opened in Chester in 2012 by restaurateur brothers Ben & Joe Wright. A second site opened in 2016 in the leafy market town of Altrincham opposite the now bustling Market Hall which people have been utterly enamoured with ever since.
The third site, on Bexley Square on Chapel Street, Salford is the third site opened this week. The new venue manages to uphold the relaxed, laid-back atmosphere and eclectic menu of Spanish tapas which we recognise from the other sites.
Porta is informal at its very core which is something incredibly central to Spanish cuisine. The restaurant takes its influence from the tiny independent tapas bars of Barcelona and Madrid in both the food and the design.
The venue is laden with bar stools and casual tables surrounding an open kitchen which creates a busy, buzzing atmosphere that feels nothing less than authentic.
The menu is enthusiastically Iberian, representing many tapas bar classics. Joe works with his team of chef’s tirelessly perfecting recipes for every item on the menu– everything is handmade in-house.
Expect dishes like tomato bread, purple sprouting broccoli with romesco, croquetas del dia and enough Jamon Iberico to sink a ship.
In short, Porta is the kind of place to relax in – unpretentious and comfortable with good music, beer, wine and food- and we are so excited to finally have it right in the middle of the busy bustling metropolis.
