We’re BACK! With the opening of many of the city’s eating and drinking establishments, we’ve got straight back to doing what we do best – stuffing our faces…

Signature Chicken Sandwich
Kong’s Chicken Shop
A brand new pop-up chicken shop serving up seriously crunchy fried chicken from CBRB in the NQ. Served in a potato brioche bun with pickles, burger sauce and plenty of crunchy chipotle slaw. Oh and it comes with the CRISPY CHICKEN SKIN on it too! They’ve got a banging vegan option – should you not be a fan of meat.

Soft Shell Crab Sushi Platter
Unagi @ Lime Bar, Salford Quays
Lime Bar has been at Salford Quays for 21 years this year. That’s AGES. Even after all these years it’s still independent and it’s still family owned, and they’ve re-opened with 3 different food menus – each one a rather impressive offering indeed. I sampled from each, tucking into a Mexican Platter from the classic menu, a Vegan Burger from Bad Boy Vegan and this – the Soft Shell Crab Sushi from the masters at Unagi. Crunchy, sweet and perfectly balanced – this is probably the last place in Manchester (or Salford) where you’d expect to find sushi THIS good. But trust me – it’s outstanding.

Chip Butty Bao
Wolf at the Door
Fries, chip shop curry sauce and curry dust all stuffed into a nice fluffy bao bun. I’ve not got a zoomed in picture of it because I shovelled it into my face pretty quickly. But it’s that one on the right of the plate. Absolutely fantastic.

Shaun of the Dead
Cane & Grain
There’s a new cocktail menu over at Cane & Grain – and considering I’d not been down there for around 6 months – I jumped at the chance to head on down – try a few and get my chops around some Beef Short Ribs. I’m pleased to announce that there are some crackers on there – with my favourite being the ‘Shaun of the Dead’ – a kinda gin version of the Zombie which comes in a pint glass, or you can have in a huge STEIN for £16!

Gnocchi Allo Speck
Ezra & Gil
I can’t get enough of Ezra and Gil’s pasta ever since we headed down with Matt White to chat to the head chef. My personal fav is the Gnocchi dish with cured smoked ham and plenty of rosemary and parmesan cream (cured smoked ham) and rosemary served with Parmesan cream sauce.

Pepperoni with Hot Honey Pizza
I’m sat here in my house in Stretford and I’m literally 100 metres away from this pizza and it’s taking all of my self control not to nip out and get one down me. The wife and I popped down earlier in the week and shared this beauty – the Pepperoni with Hot Honey Pizza (and a slab of Burnt Basque Cheesecake). The crust was perfect, there was LOADS of cheese, the pepperoni was cupping and the hot honey is an inspired touch – easily one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Well, it’s on the Top 10 list anyway and I’ve had A LOT of pizza in my 36 years.

Peanut Crispy Chicken
Ducie Street Warehouse
There’s a brand new (very pretty) terrace out the back of Ducie Street. It’s south facing too so you can soap up all the sun’s rays for the full day. This crispy chicken was the stand out dish for me, not too spicy and just the right amount of crunch. There’s plenty of gochujang spicy sauce and a cracking miso buttermilk dip.

La Bandera
Sun came out this week so the only right thing to do was bob down to La Bandera’s brand new terrace and pour a massive cold glass of Sangria. There’s a whole rainbow menu of Sangria to work through; Rosé, Red, White & Cava.

Chicken Shawarma
Mor Mor @ Hatch
There’s a brand new street food at Hatch courtesy of Mor Mor. They’re serving up all sorts of mezze and small plates including the classic Chicken Shawarma. This one was chargrilled to absolute perfect and served on a massive flat bread. Loadsa flavour and plenty of good times.

One Central, Altrincham
It’s FROZEN ROSE WINE. Slushy style. It’s also rocket fuel. You don’t need to know much else. Go and enjoy and have a lovely weekend you lot!
