To celebrate the opening of the new Kong’s Cantina in Black Dog, the pop-up restaurant will offer £5 Margaritas all day this Friday for anyone making the trip to try out its delicious new Mexican menu.
The new concept is the next in the long list of ventures for the team at Kong’s Chicken Shop. Originally launched in Tariff Street’s Northern Monk Refectory, it branched out to a diner in Dog Bowl on Whitworth Street and then onto a dedicated sandwich shop inside Hatch, which has become a go-to lunch spot for those in the area.
The new Cantina concept sees a Mexican-influenced menu of cheesy quesadillas and jam-packed tacos offered in the heart of Northern Quarter. Always going the extra mile to elevate its dishes and diverse menu, Kong’s Cantina offers something entirely different to what the restaurant has done before, but doesn’t divert from the distinctively tasty Kong’s stamp.
If you haven’t been yet, we can’t recommend the traditional Birria Gravy enough. Taking inspiration from street food-centric Mexico, it’s made with slow-cooked beef shin and beef cheek, roasted tomatoes, and a mixture of roasted chillies, all combined together to simmer for hours on end. The depth of flavour is truly unbelievable.
Officially launching this Friday (16th September) from 12pm – 9pm, the restaurant will offer the first 30 people who order food a free Cazcabel Margarita. £5 Watermelon Margaritas and £5 Micheladas will then be available all day until 9pm for everyone, not just those ordering food.
Across Saturday and Sunday, Kong’s Cantina will also serve up £5 Sherbet Palomas and £3 shots of the flavoured Cazcabel to further commemorate the opening of the new concept.
The restaurant is open Monday 4pm – 9pm, Tuesday – Sunday 12pm – 9pm.
