My entire childhood pretty much revolved around eating chicken nuggets with chips, waffles or potato smiles – complete with all of the necessary stresses involved where I wouldn’t want my beans (or peas) to touch anything else on the plate lest it make them soggy.
So my mam had to invent a range of ingenious ways to ensure that my food didn’t cross contaminate – when in reality she should have just given me the wet stuff in a little bowl on the side. Would have made it much easier.
