Since its inception back in 2021, Kong’s has become a cult favourite of Manchester foodies.

Its restaurant’s kitchens can now be found in Northern Monk Refectory, Hatch and, also, late-night bowling space, Dog Bowl where it has recently launched a brand-new menu.

Famous for its stacked sandwiches that are made to be paired with bad hangovers, Kong’s new menu doesn’t shy away from its original game plan.

Starting off with the Signature Chicken Sandwich (£13.50), a staple of the Kong’s menu since day one, it comes with a fried chicken thigh, crispy chicken skin, chunky burger sauce, iceberg lettuce, and is finished off with pickles and sriracha slaw, all on top of a toasted seeded brioche bun.

But, diving a little further into the newness, Kong’s have put together a showstopper of a butty – the Jerk Chicken Sandwich (£14). Marinated in jerk sauce and accompanied by mango and pineapple hot salsa, slaw and iceberg lettuce this one is also available in vegan form, and is equally as good.

The most exciting part though, is that Kong’s have included a couple of dishes that you may not expect from the fried chicken connoisseurs. The Hanger Steak and Fries (£16) obviously takes centre stage, cooked rare and topped with chimichurri and watercress, with the addition of king prawns for £5, or a fried egg for an extra quid if you fancy.

There’s also the Panang Curry Chicken Sandwich (£14) and the Buffalo Chicken Poutine (£14), a fried chicken thigh in buffalo sauce with mozzarella, fries, gravy, blue cheese sauce, crumbled cheese, chives and chilli.

Kong’s at Dog Bowl is open from 12pm every day and you can enjoy all of its delicious food alongside a game of bowling.

Kong’s has also recently launched its exclusive sandwich shop at Hatch, where you’ll find an NYC style takeaway restaurant with a twist. They’ve got a serious selection, including a Philly Cheese, Chicken Caesar Club, Kong’s Italian BMT, and Pastrami with Parmesan Fries. All of the sandwiches are made fresh to order right in front of you, giving any other city centre sandwich shop a run for its money.
