I love a glass of wine or 17 on a Friday night after work to wash away the woes of the week, but I admittedly don’t know that much about the beverage.
I’m a red wine kind of girl, and when it comes to choosing a bottle, it’s usually the one with the grooviest label or the 6 quid option that should be a bit pricier, but currently finds itself on offer.
I do know there’s a lot to wine tasting, and I’ve always wanted to take myself to a vineyard to stand on a few grapes and really get to grips with how to sniff and spit my way to the finest of wines.
Starting this March, Harvey Nichols in Manchester city centre is offering to take you on your own, personal wine discovery. From the latest and greatest in the wine world to the finest sommelier selected wines, you’ll finally find the right bottle for you.
The events will be hosted by the store’s resident expert, and you will enjoy 90-minutes of the Wine Shops most desirable wines and spirits from all countries and regions, alongside light nibbles from the Second Floor Deli Bar.
Harvey Nichols Wine Flight
Thursday 17th March
The first event, you’ll join the experts on a journey of discovery through six enchanting wines from the bestselling Harvey Nichols own-label collection.
From classic whites and full-bodied reds, to refreshing fizz and ruby-rich port, this interactive session will showcase the very best of Harvey Nichols’ own-label collection, each one handpicked by the experts and bottled exclusively for the store. Tickets are £20 per person and the event takes place from 6pm – 7.30pm.
Kylie Minogue Wine Tasting
Thursday 31st March
Unfortunately, the queen herself won’t be there, but you will be joined by Brand Ambassador, Madeleine St Clair as you discover four of the finest wines and fizz from the Kylie Minogue Wine collection. Plus, sample a tasting plate from Harvey Nichols’ Second Floor Deli Bar. Tickets are £25 per person, with £20 redeemable against purchases from the Kylie Minogue wine collection during the event and it will run from 6pm – 7pm.
Springtime Sauvignon
Thursday 7th April
You’ll celebrate the world’s most popular white grape with five expressions from the Old and New World, tasting of five wines pre-selected by our experts, alongside light nibbles from the Second Floor Deli Bar. This event is £30 per person and runs from 6pm – 7:30pm.
The Wine Lover
Thursday 28th April
The next event is probably for the more seasoned and well-versed wine lovers amongst us. will see you discover the latest and greatest bottles in an informative and interactive wine tasting session. Join the resident experts as they delve into the wonderful world of wine and take you on a journey through five carefully curated varieties.
With perfectly paired nibbles and tasting tips along the way, this experience goes way beyond the bottle. This event takes place on Thursday 28th April from 6pm – 7:30pm and tickets are £30 per person.
Sommelier Selection
Thursday 19th May
The Sommelier Selection is the next event in the calendar, on Thursday 19th May, where you’ll discover the finest bottles from all corners of the globe as Harvey Nichols’ expert connoisseurs talk and taste their way through this luxury curation of five wines.
From newsworthy newcomers and latest releases, to legendary vintages and iconic bottles, this experience will take even the most discerning wine lover’s taste buds on an immersive trip around the world. Tickets are £50 for this one and it runs from 6pm – 7.30pm.
Whiskey Tasting Journey
Thursday 23rd June
The final event veers in a slightly different direction to the wine world, as you’ll be taken on a whiskey tasting journey. Expand your whiskey horizons with this world tour of five radically different expressions of Harvey Nichols’ favourite aged spirit, tasting of five whiskeys, pre-selected by the experts alongside light nibbles from the Second Floor Deli Bar.
Tickets are £30 per person and this event runs from 6pm – 7:30pm.
