With dining out opportunities somewhat limited over the last 18 months, you could be forgiven for forgetting that Manchester’s Stock Exchange Hotel now boasts a restaurant headed up by none other than Michelin-starred-man-off-the-telly Tom Kerridge.
And, as luck would have it, if you’re yet to visit and would love to sample some fantastic modern British grub, there has never been a better opportunity than with the rather reasonably priced Bull & Bear Weekday Set Menu.
Here’s how it works, and it couldn’t be simpler, starters, mains and desserts come with a pair of options each and two or three courses will set you back £24.50 or £29.50 respectively.
Of course you’d be well advised to grab a few drinks along the way too, and we started off with a few B&B signature cocktails, the Peanut Butter Old Fashioned, Rhubarb Cosmopolitan and Fair Verona.
When it comes time to tuck in you could choose a sweet and richly satisfying Red pepper soup accompanied by a cheese straw and rocket pesto.
Also on the menu is a Rotisserie Beetroot, Melon and Burrata Salad drizzled with a delicious Hazelnut Dressing.
For mains, there is the Bull & Bear Burger with Honey Mustard Pulled Pork and the ‘Caesar Salad’,
as well as Deep Fried Plaice and B&B Chips with Tartare Sauce.
As with everything else on the menu, desserts offer a compelling combination of differing textures and firm but finely balanced flavours.
There’s a mouth-watering choice between the Duck Egg Custard Tart with Apple Sorbet or the Bitter Chocolate and Cherry Mousse with Vanilla Cream.
