A Manchester cocktail bar has been named the best in the UK for the very first time.
Schofield’s Bar on Little Quay Street was revealed as the number one spot at a prestigious ceremony – The Top 50 Cocktail Bar Awards – marking the first time a Manchester bar has won the top accolade at these coveted awards. At last year’s awards Schofield’s had placed at number 4.
Opened by brothers Joe and Daniel Schofield in 2021, the popular bar was recognised for both the quality of its drinks and amazing art deco surroundings. They also run Sterling, based in Manchester’s Stock Exchange Hotel.
Following the news, co-founder Joe Schofield told Manchester’s Finest: “We are honoured to receive recognition for being the best cocktail bar in the UK from Top 50 Bars. Through two different awarding bodies, this is the third year in a row we have won the title of best bar bar in the UK.”
He added: “We are very grateful for the teams hard work and the wonderful guests that support our family business.”
The family-run venue was one of a handful of Mancunian establishments to be ranked in the list, which is voted for by industry experts. Whilst half of all those ranked were based in London, it was a proud night for Manchester as venues in the city all featured in the top half of the list.
Blinker at Spring Gardens joined Schofield’s in the top 10 at number 6, whilst Speak In Code was ranked in 12th place and Project Halcyon at 21.
