Foundation, the favourite Manchester coffee house, is set to open its fourth branch in the Red Bank neighbourhood.

The new coffee spot will be opening up this Friday (September 15) at the bottom of the £200 million Gate & Stile apartment development at MeadowSide, overlooking Angel Meadow park.

And for its first week, it will be offering up 50% off all hot drinks and 25% off brunch to entice new customers.

Since opening in the heart of the Northern Quarter in 2015, the coffee house has since opened further branches on Whitworth Street and Portland Street.

As with the existing spots, the new branch will be championing the Foundation all-day brunch menu, and serving up speciality coffee.

Katie Lea, design director at Foundation, said: “We’re excited to now bring Foundation to this part of the city centre and look forward to becoming a genuine neighbourhood hub where we can welcome the local community and get to be a part of the regeneration of this area of our city.

“Our large spaces are designed with flexibility in mind, so they are great places to work and play, from early in the morning into the evening seven days a week. From coffee and brunch to drinks and events.”

The coffee spot will join a burgeoning food and drink scene in Red Bank, with the likes of indie food court Grub, Asian street food from Unagi and The Sparrows, the sake and spätzle restaurant that’s been listed in the Michelin guide.

MeadowSide is part of the ambitious, £4 billion redevelopment of that part of the city, from Victoria Station up to the bottom of Cheetham Hill.

Called the Victoria North regeneration project, it will bring with it 15,000 new homes as well as new schools, healthcare facilities and transport links to the area.

Jake Scott-Thrale, asset manager at FEC, which is behind the development, said: “Our partnership with Foundation epitomises our approach for our commercial strategy – working with independent and entrepreneurial businesses to bring some of the city’s most exciting brands to the residents of Meadowside and beyond.

“We are incredibly excited to be working with Dominic and the Foundation Coffee Team who have established a fantastic independent Mancunian brand.”

The 20-storey Gate and 17-storey Stile development forms part of FEC’s £200m MeadowSide scheme. Gate & Stile will be FEC’s second completed development in Manchester following the delivery of Mount Yard at MeadowSide last summer.
