Abeja’s head chef, Ana Villegas will set up camp in the independent Chorlton Green cocktail bar between Thursday 2nd and Sunday 5th June in celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee.

The restaurant is known for its menu of authentic Mediterranean tapas dishes, which includes croquettes and tortillas, alongside fish and meat small plates that transport you straight to the sun kissed sand dunes of Spain.

Taking on Instagram, the restaurant said: “We love the idea of serving our food from our local independent wine and cocktail bar, it’s the perfect pairing for tapas food. And we cannot wait to work with David and Lucy (from Chorlton Green) on this exciting venture!”

Ana began the business back in 2019, originally occupying a tiny site in Hatch underneath the Mancunian Way, harbouring its ‘tiny tapas’ name – as the restaurant could only serve a maximum of 15 people.

Since then, the business has been popping up at various markets and foodie hubs, including Sale Food Hall and Altrincham Market, as well as delivering its specialty tapas ‘boards in a box’ to locals. It announced earlier in the year that it’s looking for a larger, permanent site in Chorlton, too, but more is yet to be revealed.

At Abeja’s pop-up across the jubilee weekend, you can expect all the usual delights from the tapas restaurant, including sharing plates stacked with deli meats and cheeses, alongside handmade Spinach, Cream and Serrano Ham croquettes, and Ana’s classic Spanish tortilla, that’s served with aioli and piquillo peppers.

Another dish you’ll be able to sample in the South Manchester suburb next week is the Pincho Maruno, consisting of marinated Iberico pork skewers, served with a side of padron and piquillo peppers.

There’ll also be a couple of dessert options on the menu, too, if you can find the room! Ana will be serving freshly baked Churros with a chocolate dipping sauce that you can indulge in whilst also sipping on jugs of refreshing Sangria.

Chorlton Green’s gorgeous selection of cocktails will also be up for grabs, making it a must visit for foodies looking for alternative Jubilee weekend plans.

You can find Abeja at the Chorlton Green between 12-9pm from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June.
