Ducie Street Warehouse and Native Manchester have announced a lively programming in the spirit of Día de Muertos – a colourful celebration of life that originates from Mexico.

The warehouse’s event will run from Friday 29th October until Tuesday 2nd November, with an all-day Día de Muertos destination event on Saturday 30th October, in partnership with Mexico’s own PATRÓN tequila, featuring a series of free entertainment with something for everyone.

The stunning Grade-II listed building will be transformed into a lively, carnival-esque space to honour Mexico’s rich culture and heritage around Día de Muertos; the traditional festivity rooted in the belief that the souls of the dead can return to the living world to feast and spend time with their loved ones.

Upon entry, guests will be welcomed with a tribute to the tombs of Oaxaca, Marigold flowers and traditional ornaments of Dia de Muertos.

The high ceiling ground floor restaurant and lounge will see papel picado hung throughout the venue and the DJ booth will be decorated in homage to the Marian shrines in Mexico City.

Unfolding the festivities at Ducie Street Warehouse, with an explosion of colour and joyful celebration, Saturday 30th will showcase the best of live DJs, brass bands, mariachi, performers from dancers to contortionist, fire entertainment, face painter and tarot readers.

On Tuesday 2nd November – the last day of the celebrations and the official day for Día de Muertos in Mexico – Ducie Street Warehouse will continue the festivities with live entertainment and traditional Spanish guitar and Tango performances.

Ducie Street Warehouse has a specially curated MENU available on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th October and Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd November.

The food menu will feature delectable small plates such as Calabaza en Tache with candied pumpkin, agave and toasted seeds; Pork Enchiladas with black beans, tomato, chilli and coriander salsa; Camote with spiced sweet potato fritter and corn salad; and main of a tender Grilled Chicken Breast with mole negro; then finishing off with a sweet Churro with salted caramel ice cream and dulce de leche.

A special Día de Muertos collaboration with PATRÓN Tequila will see three limited themed cocktails available at Ducie Street Warehouse, from Friday 25th October until Sunday 7th November.

The cocktail menu will feature Marigold Mule with PATRÓN Silver, St. Germain, lime juice, ginger beer, lime zest and Marigold flower; Habanero Añejo Old Fashioned with PATRÓN Añejo, agave syrup, orange zest, Habanero bitters, chocolate bitters, dark chocolate Calavera bee square and slice of chilli; and Pan de Muertos with PATRÓN Reposado, orgeat, lime juice, orange liqueur, pineapple juice and caramelised orange wedge.

These signature PATRÓN Dia de Muertos cocktails will bring to life the colours, rituals and symbols of the iconic festivity to Ducie Street Warehouse.
