The site at the very top of the street has been earmarked for a June opening.

Located right at the top of Oldham Street, on the corner of Swan Street (and opposite Frog & Bucket), there’s been a fair whack of work going on in recent weeks – transforming the upper floors into flats and the ground floor and basement into a new craft beer bar.

Planning permission is going through on the site, which has seemingly sat derelict for years after Ladbrokes decided they’d had enough of ripping people off here around 2009.

The word on the street is that the site will be home to a new craft beer bar, operated by the team behind both the Alphabet Brewing Company and PLY on Lever Street.

Alphabet are well-known for their fantastic beers, and so if they’ve found themselves a more accessible location in which to flog their stuff then fair play to them. The current ABC Taproom is a bit out of the way round the back of Piccadilly but it’s always been a top place for a few jars.

PLY doesn’t need much of an introduction – they’ve been serving up some of the city’s best Neapolitan pizzas and craft beers for years now. I should also do a big shout out to their Blue Cheese & Pear Pizza which is phenomenal.

The site has been marked for a June opening, so the best I can say is hopefully watch this space for more details over the next few weeks.
