This weekend saw the unveiling of the Observer Monthly Food Awards 2019, one of the biggest events in the food calendar and a chance for the industry’s movers and shakers to get the recognition they deserve.
Now in its 16th year, the awards aim to “celebrate the best in food and drink” from across the UK, with high-profile food critics and chefs judging some categories while the public voted for others.
One award which should be of interest to us Manchester lot is the ‘Young Chef of the Year’ award which was won by Danny Wallace over at Kala on King Street. Well done to him there!
From the public vote, and concerning one of the best meals in the world, the Northern Quarter’s TNQ came in as a runner-up in the ‘Best Sunday Lunch’ category. Here’s what they said…
TNQ – The Northern Quarter Restaurant, Manchester
Of course the meat (beef rump, lamb leg, pork belly) is well-sourced, and the potatoes are roasted in dripping, but the four extra veg that complete the plate, all for £12.95, make a Sunday lunch punching well above its weight.
Anyone who’s actually been for a roast at TNQ will know that they are out of this world. If you’ve still not been for one – get it sorted. Be sure to book it first though – I can imagine they’re going to be lot busier on Sundays now after this.
Well done to all of the team over at TNQ – well deserved indeed.
