Altrincham has received another major coffee and brunch injection this week with the arrival of city centre Antipodean brunch specialists Federal.
Let’s take this opportunity to welcome Federal to the market town, they’ve set tongues wagging in the city centre ever since opening up in 2014 with their outstanding Brunch offering, coffees, cocktails and my favourite – those Pastel de Nata that everyone is always talking about.
This week has seen them team up with Altrincham Market and set up shop in their very own horse box on the corner of New Market Square, serving hot drinks, natas and other pasties to take away.
The arrival now brings the sheer amount of artisan coffee, pastries and brunch within a 50m sq strip of the town to bursting, with the recent arrival of the new shipping container street food village that arrived back in November from the team behind the the successful Con Club – located just across the road from the Market.

They’ve all found themselves in esteemed company, sat alongside veteran brunch and coffee experts Blanchflower, who, apart from being primarily responsible for ushering a new era of cafe culture into the market town, are still fastidiously serving up the best brunch and coffee in the area.
So there’s plenty of competition down there for Federal, but I’m sure they’ll relish the competition and, more importantly, help bring in the crowds…
