Manchester-based fish and chip shop, Chips @ No.8 has today been named as a finalist in the Top 20 Takeaways of the Year in the National Fish and Chip Awards.

Chips @ No.8 in Manchester has been shortlisted, putting it in with a chance of taking the 2023 trophy.

The 20 finalists were selected following an extensive judging process of the top 40 fish and chip takeaways across the region, which were announced last month.

The Takeaway of the Year category is sponsored by Pukka Pies, McWhinneys, Smales, VA Whitley, Friars Pride, Henry Colbecks and B D Signs.

The winner will be announced at The National Fish and Chip Awards, hosted by The National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF), on the 28th of February 2023 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.

The National Fish and Chip Awards is the largest UK-wide event dedicated to raising standards across the industry whilst supporting fish and chip related businesses.

For more than 30 years, the awards have celebrated the nation’s favourite dish, while championing the eclectic eateries that hold up this loved British tradition. The National Federation of Fish Friers will host the inaugural awards in February 2023.

Commenting on the news, Andrew Crook, President at the NFFF, comments “We received such a high standard of applications this year, for this category in particular, making it a very difficult yet rewarding judging process!

“The top 20 really demonstrate a strong commitment to the fish and chip industry and to the British public, so we’re thrilled to see so many shortlisted from across the country. Congratulations to everyone involved, this is a massive achievement in itself!”
