La Bandera needed some inspiration for their new cocktail menu so they charged 3 of their bartenders to unleash their creative juices and come up with 3 cocktails each – which would then be sniffed at, tasted and considered by a panel of ‘expert’ judges.
In what must be one of the most unique ways of adding to a drinks menu, the cocktails were devised, poured, shaken and stirred, and then scored on a variety of categories.
There was the TASTE, the NAME, its APPEARANCE and the TIME it took to make it (all important when it’s a busy Friday night of course).
Up to the task were Marc Benton, Alejandro Renedo and Javier Sáez – all fighting it out to get as many of their unique creations onto the menu as possible.
It must be said – some of the cocktails were a little bit odd (to say the least) but all three managed to add to the current list with one of their creations.
But what are they? Well…
Sevilla Daiquiri by Marc Benton
(Ingredients: Puerto de Indias Gin, strawberries, Lime, Cranberry Juice, Gomme)
A total strawberry burst with Puerto de Indias strawberry gin and fresh strawberries.
Una Dama en Tijuana by Alejandro Renedo
(Ingredients: Cava, Tequila and Elderflower)
When the elegance of a lady gets lost in Tijuana. Cava, tequila and elderflower are mixed to create this controversial drink.
Málaga Mule by Marc Benton
(Ingredients: Larios Gin, Lime, Ginger Ale)
The Moscow Mule finally arrives in Málaga! Try this Spanish twist on a true Russian-themed classic!
Absolutely Bananas by Javier Sáez
(Ingredients: Absolute Vodka, Licor 43, Banana Liquor, Double Cream, Gomme)
A tribute to the Canary Islands most popular fruit, and because we are all a bit ‘loco’ in the Canarias.
The 4 cocktails have been added to the new cocktail list and are available right now. Head on down to La Bandera to check out – Absolutely Bananas was my favourite – so make sure you give that one a try!
