Located on Peter Street, Asha’s is one of the city’s best hidden gems – if you’ve never heard of it or been and tried their food – it should make its way right up to the top of your to-do list.
Their Indian cuisine is like no other in the city, it’s fresh, the produce is local, and they always seem to manage to put a very impressive twist on many traditional dishes that just take them to a whole new level.
Take for example their new Lunch Menu, where you can get 2 Small Plates and a drink for only £10. There’s plenty of variety, and when I went down to check them out earlier this week – they were all very, very tasty – even the kale!
The menu is concise but contains some real big hitters. The Kerala Fried Chicken comes lightly peppered and with a cheeky little kick. The added coconut chutney adds a welcome fresh revelation to each mouthful too.
Similarly, the British Lamb Chops come laminated in ginger, garlic, cumin and coriander and are cooked to perfection in their tandoor.
For anyone that is familiar with Indian Street Food, you’ll be pleased to know that they offer a Pav, in this case a keema with peas and a perfect quails egg perched on top.
I should probably also mention Asha’s Protein Bowl which come with a variety of different toppings including salmon tikka, chicken tikka or paneer, alongside some proper healthy ingredients such as bulgur wheat, quinoa, avocado and sweet peas.
