Zanna Group, the team behind the highly successful Mughli restaurants in both Knutsford and Rusholme, have expanded their portfolio by acquiring Superstore in the Northern Quarter.
The acquisition is the latest restaurant venture for the group after a busy two years of restaurant openings: Damson & Co – a coffee shop wine bar opened in the heart of Soho, London; The Railway Café & Gin Bar – a British Indian pop-up restaurant now made permanent in Alderley Edge, Cheshire; and Queenswood – a neighbourhood restaurant in Battersea, London.
Sax Arshad of Zanna is looking forward what’s ahead for Superstore: “We spent our childhood in dad’s clothing business on Newton Street round the corner before he opened Mughli in ’91 and to see the changes to the area since has been great to see and now be a part of”.
The much-loved Superstore will continue under its existing name for the interim and led by current manager, Daniel Good. Newly appointed Head Chef Byron Moses plans to refresh the already globally influenced menu whilst maintaining firm favourites such as the Sunday roasts and breakfast options.
Mital Morar, former owner of Superstore added: “I couldn’t be leaving Superstore in better hands – the team and I have always been a fan of Mughli in Rusholme and the brothers themselves have a tremendous reputation in the industry for exceptional and vibrant restaurants. I’m confident that our loyal customers will enjoy what they and chef Byron have in store and that the restaurant will go from strength to strength under their ownership”.
