As Salvi’s gear up to the opening of their ‘Super Salvi’s’ at The Corn Exchange, opening on December 17th, they’ve decided to call in the experts as they put finishing touches to the options for some of their most important customers – the kids!
The Salvi’s team are introducing a specialist kids pizza to the menu at The Corn Exchange and decided to ask local kids to help them create the dish.
The restaurant, in partnership with Forever Manchester, invited children from one of the communities that the charity has been supporting in Oldham, to design and create a pizza – for kids by kids! A donation from each pizza sold will them be made to Forever Manchester.
Two families from Oldham, in a neighbourhood where Forever Manchester has been funding lots of activity this year, headed to Salvi’s Cucina restaurant on John Dalton Street at the weekend to take over the kitchen! They worked with owners Maurizio and Claire and the Salvi’s chefs to design and create the new pizza, which will then served on the Corn Exchange menu when it opens next month.
The kids will be invited back to try their creation at the new restaurant and see their pizza name in lights on the menu!
The pizza, and it’s name, will be revealed at the opening of the new restaurant!
The Pint-sized Pizza Pros were:
Faith Jones, aged 6
Chelsea Jones, aged 13
Harmony Turner aged 3
Chloe Jones aged 9
Dotty Sullivan aged 9
All from Oldham, the group have been enjoying activity such as Breakfast Clubs, Craft Clubs and community parties, thanks to grants from Forever Manchester.
Salvi’s is Manchester’s authentic, Italian, family run food business,
Founded and operated by husband and wife team Maurizio and Claire, Salvi’s is everything that traditional, Southern Italian eating is about – rustic, comforting, generous, fine food made from the best, carefully sourced Italian ingredients.
Claire Wheeler, owner of Salvi’s said:
“We’ve always been a family-friendly restaurant at Salvi’s – Italian dining is all about family afterall – but we’ve never really created a dedicated dish for the kids before. This group were fantastic mini masterchefs and have really helped us to perfect the ultimate kids pizza – all shall be revealed at The Corn Exchange when we open at the 11th!”
