A year ago today, we were giddy with excitement about the prospect of The Range opening its doors in Spinningfields.
Never before had we seen a golf club open in the city centre which was set to house 5 highly-advanced golf simulators that allow members and non-members to play 100 of the finest golf courses on the planet – all without leaving town.
Not only that but the news of the sister restaurant – Albatross & Arnold – next door got us pretty giddy too.
Roughly 355 days later – we can look back at the fantastic year they have had. Honestly, both venues have just gone from strength to strength in the past year, and we are glad to have been behind them every step of the way.
I think the biggest turning point for Albatross and Arnold (and The Range), was the employment of MasterChef Professionals semi-finalist Jonathan Green earlier this year.
Jonathan has really taken their food to the next level, which as in turn created many fantastic one-off events and collaborations with big names in the food bizz.
Their current menu features an ever changing range of fantastic seasonal dishes including Jon’s famous Cauliflower dish from MasterChef which features the often overlooked vegetable served up 3 ways inside a crispy potato skin.
Equally, The Range has welcomed a loyal band of members and people dropping in from far and wide for a game or two of golf on the world’s most famous courses.
Not only that but the space doubles as a private cinema for sporting events which seems to go down extremely well. A private booth, food, drinks in a sophisticated setting -you try and find me anywhere in Manchester that does that…
So, we raise our glasses to them both – right now and at their Birthday party next Friday. I imagine there will be canapés, cocktails and general glamorous-ness floating about, so it’s safe to say we cannot wait.
