This Monday 6th September will see a star-studded bash take place that has been dubbed “the Oscars of the takeaway world” – the British Takeaway Awards 2021 (in association with Just Eat).

The Awards themselves are six years old this year, and they’re dedicated to recognising and rewarding the very best takeaway venues across the UK, across a multitude of cuisines.

The awards themselves are split up into regional categories, with five venues being chosen from the North West back in May after a month of vigorous voting amongst the takeaway-eating public and their very own mystery shoppers.

Well, this year has seen three of those five finalists from Stockport – which I’m sure you’ll agree – is very impressive indeed.

Bun & Bones Club

First up is the brilliant Bun & Bones Club, a burger joint that’s been making some serious waves down in Stockers over the past couple of years, and even introduced a new pizza venue into the mix last year with Pickle Ricks.

The Bun & Bones Club have been absolutely smashing it throughout lockdown and beyond, with a massive menu of huge, mad and loaded burgers, including the Picmac (£8.50) which comes with two beef patties, cheese, smoked bacon, salad and a grilled mac & cheese ‘puck’ wedged where the Big Mac bread should be, and the Sloppy-Joe (£9) topped with two beef patties, house chilli, grilled halloumi and lashings of baconnaise.

The Yā bāo Burger // Bun & Bones Club

They also offer up regular weekly specials, which can get even madder, such as the Yā bāo back in June which featured two beef patties, cheese, shredded duck in a Vimto and plum sauce, mixed peppers, pickled cucumber, sesame seeds, crispy onions and Japanese Mayo all on a steamed bao bun!

Next up in the final is LAPD Food, a venue that also reached the final back in 2020 but unfortunately was nipped to the podium by Brothers Burgers in Warrington.

The name is, a bit odd, but LAPD Food must be doing something right if they’ve reach the finals for the last couple of years.

Offering up pizzas, burgers, fried chicken, wraps and more – this place seems like the kind of joint that you can go to after a few beers and be safe in the knowledge that your food will be freshly cooked, tasty and won’t break the bank.

Finally, we have The Spinn, a venue that’s been absolutely smashing it on Instagram and beyond – especially during lockdown when they introduced their 3-Tiered ‘Boris Burger‘ back when we were all talking about tiers and restrictions before Christmas.

The ‘3 Tier’ Boris Burger // The Spinn

Owned by ex-Emmerdale star Adam Thomas and his mate Scott Graham (the man behind Oh My Glaze), The Spinn serves up a very impressive menu of Signature burgers, wraps, fries and of course – wings which you can get coated in one of eight of Scott’s banging Oh My Glazes sauces.

If one of these excellent places happen to WIN the award, they’ll receive £1,000 in cold hard cash, £200 to spend at Just Eat and an exclusive trophy.

From here they’ll get entered into the ‘Best Takeaway in Britain’ category alongside all of the other regional winners, and if they win that – they’ll get £5k in cash a trophy and a media support package from Just Eat.

The British Takeaway Awards 2021 will be taking place this Monday 6th September – good luck to all three of the Stockport finalists – we’ll have our fingers and toes crossed for you.
