Bank Holiday weekend often means a bombardment of event invitations that lead to difficult decisions and an evening in the local, foreshadowed by the overwhelm of it all.

However, if you’re a fellow herbivore looking for a place to check out some of the city’s current best vegan food – look no further than YES, as the Charles Street bar will be throwing open its doors for two days of street food, music and stalls this weekend.

Kicking off on Sunday 28th, YES will be joined by its resident restaurants Pepperoni Playboy and Doner Summer, serving up their usual slices of incredible pizza, vegan doner wraps and boxes of plant-based chicken.

Joining the food line-up, MFDF nominees House of Habesha will bring their authentic Eritrean and Ethiopian cuisine to the bar, too, with a menu full of curries and huge sharing platters, featuring freshly baked fermented breads.

There’ll also be a selection of Caribbean food from ARMR Store, who have become a firm favourite in the city across the past year. Specialising in homemade Caribbean curries and their famous Oyster Mushroom burgers, there’ll be plenty to choose from if you’re passing by.

And rounding off the food programme this month, The Vegan Picnic Basket will provide sweet and savoury bakes across the weekend, as well as Skoffaloff, a fairly new concept offering entirely plant-based twists on dishes with a Middle-Eastern touch.

YES is known for having an unmatched calendar of DJs and music events at its bar, and this will only be echoed across Sunday and Monday as Andy Votel’s B Music takes over the terrace on Sunday, with Be With Records following suit on the Monday.

Taking note of the summer holidays, YES have also programmed in some kid friendly events across the two-day festival, including ‘Born To Be Wild Child’ kids activities and a zine and magazine stall that should keep them quiet for at least 20 minutes.

The event is free to attend and will run from 12am – 6pm each day.
