Uber Eats has launched its first-ever Restaurant of the Year Awards this year, where customers have nominated their favourite restaurants from across the UK and Ireland, with the finalists now up for a public vote, as well as a panel of expert judges.
In this final category of eateries for the North West is Burgerism and I Knead Pizza, two powerhouse operations that have certainly impressed over the last couple of years.
In fact, if you’re a follower of Manchester’s Finest you’ll have likely been unable to escape Burgerism over the last couple of weeks – as we visited their ‘hidden gem’ dark kitchen in Salford recently, not to mention their recent foray into Escape to Freight Island.
The story of the smashed-patty experts’ rise to fame is well-known, filling more than 1000 orders per day during the height of the pandemic, keeping things simple and using only the highest-quality ingredients. They’re pretty much considered to be the best burgers that money can buy in the city at the moment.
Also up for the Uber Eats title is the legendary I Knead Pizza, who rose to prominence from their restaurant in Reddish, before moving into the city centre with a dark kitchen for deliveries and their own spot at Hatch down on Oxford Road.
With their outstanding Neapolitan pies, I Knead Pizza have taken the city by storm, especially when it comes to delivery, and their ‘Taste of Honey‘ pizza with Napoli salami, pepperoni picante and a drizzle of honey is a must-try for any pizza lover.
I Knead Pizza are also set to expand their offering with a new restaurant in Heaton Chapel – The ‘Burbs – where they’ll be serving up their signature Neapolitan pizzas, alongside a menu of Italian and British small plates.
Probably the best thing about winning the Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year Award, apart from the respect (obviously) is the grand prize of a whopping £100,000!
Upon hearing this juicy bit of news, Burgerism told us that if they win, they’re going to put on a HUGE Burgerism Bloc Party in the summer to celebrate – so that staff and fans can get something back after supporting them through the years.
Voting for the awards closes on the 16th June, where the winners in each region then go to the panel of independent judges. The overall winner will be announced some time in July.
