The five-star Lowry Hotel says goodbye to traditional lunch service and hello to a bespoke range of limited-edition afternoon teas, accompanied by the hotel’s very own ‘Lowry Blend’ tea which has been created by the tea experts over at Tea from the Manor.
Since opening in 2001, The Lowry Hotel’s traditional afternoon tea has been a firm favourite of guests and diners.
With the demand being so high selling a whopping 2000 Afternoon Tea’s per month that The Lowry Hotel has made the strategic decision to replace the lunch menu and create an impeccable selection of afternoon teas, making them one of the first hotels in Manchester to progress from the lunch menu tradition.
The exclusive afternoon teas, which will have a change of theme every month, will be influenced by local events, produce and ingredients.
The expansion of the hotel’s already delicious range of afternoon tea starts with a Pride-themed afternoon tea to celebrate Manchester Pride taking place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend, with £1 from every afternoon tea sold being donated to the charity.
I was lucky enough to pop down yesterday for a little afternoon treat- and it is safe to say I was blown away. The selection of savouries were traditional – egg mayonnaise smoked salmon, beef & horseradish with a modern take on vegetarian food with a beetroot hummus inclusion which was deemed the favourite by all.
As for the cakes- I was lucky enough to try the Manchester Pride inspired cakes which included an appropriate rainbow cake, an apricot and white chocolate glitter macaron, a cherry choux bun and the most delicious chocolate slab I have ever had the pleasure of putting in my gob. Top marks all around.
With the nation’s love of tea, The Lowry Hotel has teamed up with Manchester Tea Merchant, James Green of Tea from The Manor to create an exquisite range of teas including The Lowry’s own unique blend, to add an extra twist to the hotel’s new concept.
The Pride-themed afternoon is available in the River Bar and Restaurant from August 1st.
