Kreuzberg Chicken @ Alberts Schloss
Where Turkey, Germany and Manchester meet – this kebab is found. The spiced & yoghurt marinated chicken breast is graced with pomegranate, pickled fennel, hummus, cucumber, fresh mint, lemon yoghurt aioli, coriander, toasted almond and pickled chillies. But, it’s the legendary bier chilli sauce which gives it its mighty legacy. You have to try it to believe it. And what better place than Alberts Schloss? One of the best atmospheres in town, with an on-site bakery to gift-wrap your kebab in fresh, golden flatbread (as if it couldn’t get better).

Adana Kebab @ KAI
Seeking traditional Turkish with an extra somethin’ somethin’? KAI brings a modern, elevated approach to dining, without ever straying more than an inch of ‘authentic.’ The mouth-watering Adana kebab is (in our opinion) the best on the menu. Chopped primal lamb & red pepper make this dish a living dream that you’ll think of in your sleep (restful nights guaranteed). KAI always delivers a promise of proper, flame-grilled, Turkish kebabs. And, between you and me, they offer an irresistible boozy bottomless brunch every Saturday for only £26pp. I know where I’ll be.

Chip Shop Halloumi @ BAB
Are you a chippy person, or a kebab person? Fuck it – why choose? This could be the dish that bridges Britain together – whatever type of person you are. The geniuses at BAB have combined beer batter bits, puffed potato, chip shop curry sauce and wasabi peas all in one iconic kebab. BAB’s modern space in the heart of the Northern Quarter is the best place to enjoy a gourmet kebab – ‘worth sitting down for.’ Over the festive season, they’re also offering an equally delightful Christmas kebab and have a solid range of veggie alternatives, so no one misses out.

Chicken Tikka @ Kabana
A local’s worst kept secret: Kabana. For its great value for money, Kabana never delivers anything less than perfection. Their chicken tikka is Unbeatable (with a capital U) and is only aided by the fresh naan served with it, all prepared on a proper grill. And not to be forgotten is the £4.50 price tag. What more could you ask for?

Lamb Seekh Kebab @ Cafe Marhaba
If you had a quid for every time this place had been called a ‘hidden gem,’ you’d have a lifetime supply of kebabs. Just tucked away from Piccadilly Gardens, this kebab is last on this list – but never, ever, least. As cheap as it is cheerful, Cafe Marhaba has a tandoori oven in which magic is made. The Lamb Seekh Kebab is one of the best on the menu, and one of the best in the whole surrounding region. Cafe Marhaba is always full of characters and will always be on our top 5 places to get a kebab around town, our love for them is really that strong.
