The crew behind Onda, the viral pasta pop-up that has taken social media by storm, have officially launched their crowdfund to help open their first restaurant.
Chef Sam Asley-Dean revealed that they’d found their new home at Circle Square on Oxford Road last month.
Now they’re looking to raise £60,000 from fans of their handmade pasta creations to fit the place out.
They said: “We are doing this because restaurants are very expensive to build, we can’t get a bank loan and we don’t want to take on investment. We are asking people who planned to visit Onda anyway to pay upfront and get extra to spend as a thank you.”

As well as 20% off reservations, there’s a stack of perks coming down the pike, including whole trays of its tiramisu – famously served from a drawer on-site, and which was assisted in going viral by actor Florence Pugh last year.
Also available will be pasta workshops for up to 12 people and loads of other offers.
Revealing their plans in a post to Instagram in March, they said: “We originally found a site for our new restaurant at the end of 2023 but quickly and painfully found out this would cost way too much for us to move into, the site was an empty shell and would need extraction, kitchen fitting, all from scratch.
“There was no way to make that work. Then a couple of months ago, we found the perfect site for us which took until now to confirm was ours. The only catch was that we need to move into it much quicker than planned and that’s why we are having to close our popup now to get ready.”
Founded by Michelin-trained chef Astley Dean, who’s also part of the team at Gooey, Onda first shacked up at Exhibition before making the move to The New Cross last year.
The new spot at Circle Square is hoping to be serving up dishes from mid-May.
