AZ’s extensive career boasts numerous noteworthy achievements.
The eloquent Brooklyn native first gained recognition on Nas’ Illmatic, followed by his own debut, featuring the gold-certified single “Sugar Hill.” He also reached the top of the Billboard 200 as a member of The Firm. His fourth Top Ten R&B album contained the Grammy-nominated track “The Essence.”
Doe or Die climbed to the top of the R&B chart and reached number 15 on the Billboard 200. In the early 2010s, AZ continued his momentum with Doe or Die: 15th Anniversary, an album that blended remastered and new material in celebration rather than a simple reissue.
More recently, Doe or Die II was released on his Quiet Money label, showcasing a remarkable lineup of producers such as Pete Rock, Buckwild, Alchemist, KayGee, Baby Paul, and the Heatmakerz, some making their debut contributions.
