Manchester-based artist Yoshimi Miura is launching a new collection of work at Electrik this June.
Known for her pop-art-influenced explorations of British culture, her new exhibition Sayonara Manchester! serves as a goodbye to the city after 25 years of residing here. The Japanese make-up artist turned fine art practitioner turned her hand to painting during the long, lonely days of COVID. The end result? Hilarious depictions of grotesque British TV stars including Mr Blobby, Deidre Barlow and Pat Butcher, finished with her distinctively bold Japanese style.
