This Saturday, Stockport’s famed retro homeware retreats, Rare Finds and Squound are hosting a Yard Sale offering up some unique, second hand homeware pieces.
Taking place in the yard of Rare Finds on Middle Hillgate, the event will run from 12pm – 4pm and will see everything from affordable, vintage tables and chairs, to nick nacks costing no more than a quid, and even Rare Find’s Owner, Emma’s bike all on offer!
“Saturday is going to be a bit like Facebook marketplace meets flea market,” she said.
“Everyone is welcome, there’ll be clothing, lamps, gorgeous mid-century homeware from the guys at Squound and lots of other bits and bobs I’ve picked up over the past few years.
“I’m a huge fan of vintage IKEA furniture and, during lockdown, I turned my attention to scouring places for unique, one-of-a-kind homeware pieces. I’ve been a bit preoccupied with the other shop recently, but I’m really excited to finally start selling all of these incredible items I’ve accumulated this weekend.”
Emma is also the brains behind Stockport’s wondrous ‘The Plant Shop’, which sells an array of gorgeous tropical plants to brighten up your living space, as well as sustainable and refillable skincare, cleaning products and other homeware pieces.
Emma is hoping to soon open Rare Finds on a more permanent basis, offering the space up to vintage dealers and homeware enthusiasts, alongside people who are wanting to make a bit of money through selling their old, unwanted items.
This Saturday will be the first day the shop is open to the public, meaning that if you get there early enough, you’ll have first dibs on Emma’s treasure trove of retro goodies.
She’ll also be firing up the coffee machine and serving freshly baked treats from Stockport’s award-winning Silver Apples bakery.
“This weekend we’ll definitely have something for everyone,” she concluded. “Rare Finds is a space for people that want to socialise and have a rummage through affordable, sustainable items for their home. I’m hoping that the day is just a bit of fun and allows people to shop comfortably.”
