From Saturday 27th of August 2016, Cottonopolis are bringing the party vibes with a two-day, two-event, disco, hip hop, bank holiday juggernaut.

Kicking off the bank holiday blowout and returning to the Newton Street bar for its second instalment is the hit bank holiday smash up Purple Reign; an all day dedication to disco.
Purple Reign will play host to a number of Manchester’s finest selectors, dropping unforgotten disco classics with gems from Prince’s discography thrown in for good measure.
Gracing the decks is Stu Richards, key contributor to Manchester disco outfit, Luv Dancin’, who always plays ‘proper disco music for good people’ and SNO, a regular at Banana Hill, the national club night for international club music will be packing a plethora of disco, hip-hop, afrobeat, jazz and rare grooves.
Disco don Darryl Marsden will also be on the 1’s & 2’s flexin’ a number of boogie edits and house chuggers. DJ Paulette a notable figure in music at Manchester Pride, J Crystalz and Mat Lake will complete the stellar line up.

Hip hop marathon with live art, breakdancing and graffiti jam

The Newton Street bar has devised a Sunday programme including a live indoor graffiti jam from Noel Dirty & Shunk, artwork giveaways, a charity auction and a breakdance showcase from Filthy Dogz alongside of some of the best DJ’s in the city.
From breakbeat to boom bap, new jack to jazz rap; Cottonopolis will be showcasing global tracks that are crucial sounds to everything that falls under the hip-hop umbrella. Expect to hear forgotten Mobb gems, unreleased Jersey club tracks that never made the B side and everything in between.
Mikey Don original member of Mancunion rap group Krispy 3 will be running tune armed with an uncompromising box of dubplates. Joining him on the wheels of steel is former XFM DJ and local figurehead Gareth Brooks who’s played in every venue in the city and will be educating partygoers with his favourite records spanning through East Coat to trip hop.
Room 2 records founder and MC Ellis Meade will also join the party; his label has been a definitive driving force to Manchester home grown hip hop scene since its birth in 2013. He will be joined by El Statiko & Cutterz, Noel Edge, Khan Fu, Dave Ruff and Swindles for this all day marathon.
