Wednesday 14th October / Unfinished Business by Swifty / 6pm – 8pm
PLY, 26 Lever Street, Manchester, M1 1DW

The festival opens with the launch of Unfinished Business, an exhibition of iconic and appropriated imagery by prolific graphic artist Ian ‘Swifty’ Swift, also marking his return to Manchester after nearly 30 years. As part of the event Swifty will take part in an exclusive talk delving into his creative mind and maverick working methods, whilst his exhibition takes over three venues across the Northern Quarter, PLY, Kosmonaut and the window of Fred Aldous, throughout the course of the festival.

Thursday 15th October / Music How / 6pm – 9.30pm

An evening in conversation with some of Manchester’s musical legends, Music How welcomes New Order’s Stephen Morris to discuss an illustrious career spanning over 30 years, following the release of their new album Music Complete. He’ll be joined by a leading light of the UK live industry, Jon Drape, and writer, journalist, DJ and creative producer, Luke Bainbridge, who will talk about their work together organising the creative triumph that is Festival No 6.

Sunday 18th October / Northern Soul the film screening / 6pm-8pm
70 Oxford Street, Manchester, M1 5NH

Northern Soul is the BAFTA-nominated debut feature film from award-winning photographer Elaine Constantine starring Steve Coogan, Ricky Tomlinson and Lisa Stansfield, with breakout performances from newcomers Elliot James Langridge and Joshua Whitehouse in the central roles.

A vibrant and authentic portrayal of adolescent escapism and self-discovery, the film is set against the high-octane Northern Soul scene of mid-seventies Lancashire, and was also a top ten UK box office hit in the week of its release.

Monday 19th October / Film How / 6.30pm – 9pm
70 Oxford Street, Manchester, M1 5NH

Showcasing the pivotal role of design in film, Film How will feature an exclusive talk on Northern Soul from producer Debbie Gray, music supervisor Gary Welch and head of wardrobe Yvonne Duckett, who will be giving insight to how the film was made, and how the fashion and music was so faithfully recreated.

This will be followed by a glimpse into the work of Altrincham-based multi genre animation studio Factory (Newzoids, Clangers, Scream Street) from its managing director, Phil Chalk, who will discuss high profile clients whilst also exploring how Factory has become renowned for producing some of the best animation in the world.
