A festive winter market featuring food, drink, stalls and even a Christmas tree shop will be popping up in one of Manchester’s most historic spots.

Fairfield Social Club has announced it will be hosting a special pop-up winter market at its venue under one of the historic railway arches in the Red Bank area.

Located just next to Angel Meadows Park in the city centre, the Christmas markets will feature barbecue stalls, a craft beer bar and independent traders as well as a pop-up Christmas tree shop selling Nordmann firs trees and an events stage hosting live entertainment.

The perfect alternative to the main Manchester Christmas Markets, the Fairfield market will take place over the first three weekends of December and welcome local brands to the party, including Foundation Coffee, arches neighbours Blackjack Brewing and street food wizards Isit Kitchens.

Oklahoma, whose Northern Quarter shop closed down earlier this year, will also be back with a pop-up gift shop, perfect for stocking fillers.

Visitors will also get the chance to shop from the Manchester Queer Art Market and enjoy special Christmas-themed performances from Manchester-based theatre company A Lovely Time.

The pop-up market serves as the first chance for visitors to see what the Fairfield Social Club’s permanent home will look like when it eventually opens next Spring. The Fairfield space has been created by the folk behind fellow events spot and food market GRUB, and will feature craft beer bars, street food traders and will also be available as a wedding venue.

The Winter Pop-Up at Fairfield Social Club will be open over the first three Fridays and Saturdays of December (1-2, 8-9 and 15-16). Children and dogs are welcome, and entry is free.

Tickets for comedy night A Lovely Time can be purchased here. Christmas trees can be preordered for collection here, or just turn up, pick your favourite and drag it home.
