Peppa Pig, love or hate her, theres no escaping her, and at the weekend she paid a visit to the East Lancashire Railway, how could we miss it!

The Family Fun weekend with appearances from Peppa Pig and George took place on bank holiday weekend, jam packed with family friendly activities running up and down the railway from Bury to Rawtenstall during the 3 day event.

We started our day at Bury train station, collected our tickets and were given a run down of all the activities on offer – delighted to see that George would be appearing just over the road at the Bury Transport Museum within minutes.

At the transport museum, little ones were able to get up close to animals in the petting farm, our daughter taking a particular shine to the chickens!. We took a ride on Grandpas miniature steam train, stopped for a bite to eat, and of course met the main attractions Peppa and George. Meeting Peppa and George impressed our little one no end, and she wasnt the only one, there were so many happy and smiling faces!

The activities that filled Bury station were plentiful, so much to keep the kids entertained – a magic show, a childrens entertainer (who might I add, had the most patience I’ve ever seen plate spinning with a group of excitable children jumping up and down). There was face painting (Peppa Pig facepaint included of course), and we were even able to see and touch beautiful Owls at the falconry display.

As part of the ticket price, guests could choose to ride either the diesel or steam trains up to Rawtenstall, via Ramsbottom, the staff handing out colouring pages featuring Peppa Pig on board, which colourfully decorated the train carriage walls. At each station, there was more activities should you wish to get off and explore the area.

The day flew by, our little girl a very happy customer. The staff of the railway need their own mention here – every single person who helped us or directed us, did so with smiles, friendly chat and helpful advice. We had a brilliant day …Oh, and the weather wasn’t too bad for a bank holiday either!
