Manchester’s The Slow Readers Club are set to play a FREE gig at Hatch on Wednesday 18th March. The event, in partnership with City Life, will be the first in a regular, monthly live music event “Hatch Live” at the food, drink and retail destination on Oxford Road.
The band’s fourth studio album, The Joy of the Return, is set for release on March 20th and the Hatch Live night will be a chance to hear tracks from the album prior to release via an exclusive 45 minute acoustic session.
Hatch, which trebled in size last summer, now houses an events space and stage. Situated under the Mancunian Way with cover from the elements provided by the iconic flyover, and traffic passing overhead, it’s one of the city’s most distinctive live music experiences. This phenomenal urban landscape will be the setting for a monthly, midweek gig at Hatch with Manchester’s hottest talent at its heart.
Hatch’s family of independent street food legends, cafes and bars will add to the festival atmosphere, providing all the ingredients for a perfect Mancunian night of music, food and drink.
Current traders on site and serving up the gig-friendly food and drink include Takk Coffee, OL Brewery, Vin-Yard, Number 8, Fuku, Mezze, Parmogeddon, Herbivorous, Abeja Tapas, Clubhouse, Electrik Box, Hanoi 75, Grandad’s Sausages, Veggie Deli, Rey del Cerdo, Golden Nugget and KBOM.
Hatch’s excellent retail and lifestyle offering means fans can enjoy a browse too from the likes of Scandi-inspired jewellery and homeware from Nordic Muse; men’s clothing and lifestyle products from Independent boutique This Thing of Ours, haircuts by Portland Barbers and hair colour and styling by Industry, Sneaker Pharm with trainer TLC, vintage clothing by Suzy Loves Milo, and gifts by Manchester artists and designers at The Warren.
The Slow Readers Club come to Hatch hot on the back of a stellar 2019, which featured a mammoth, 32-date European tour, and a number of sold out UK shows including two consecutive nights at The Ritz. This is a chance to see one of Manchester’s most exciting bands in an extraordinary setting.
The Joy of the Return is out on Modern Sky UK. Their latest single, ‘Jericho’ is out now, which follows ‘All I Hear’, the first track to be taken from the album.
Fans are encouraged to get to Hatch in good time as its expected to be a busy night and entry will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Slow Readers Club will be on stage at 8pm with special guest support acts to be announced. Watch this space for future Hatch Live events!
