On Saturday 12th May Wilbraham Road’s Hit & Run an Love 4 The Streets will seize 256 Fallowfield for the latest instalment of Food 4 Thought, with a host of talented DJs and acts helping set the tone, raising funds and supplies for the Manchester Central Foodbank.

Attendance is free, so long as you bring some non-perishable food or toiletries to donate— minimum five items per person, with tunes coming from the likes of Chimpo, Bone, Biome, Skittles, Konny Kon playing a Children of Zeus set, Sparkz, Abnormal Sleepz, Pitch 92, Free Wize Men, Metrodome and Rich Reason. So basically more than decency from start to finish, which is 2.30AM.

The concept was launched three years ago, with the first soiree taking control of sorely-missed Rusholme haunt Antwerp Mansion. Since that success, the story has developed, expanding far beyond the borders of our fair city and out across the North.

With grass-roots promoters from Leeds, Lancaster, Blackpool, Stoke and Liverpool now in on the act it’s a fantastic sign of the musical community taking affirmative action to help one of the biggest problems facing a 21st Century Britain with a deepening rich-poor divide.
