Pride In Trafford will return to the Waterside in Sale next month, it has been announced.

The annual celebration of the LGBTQ+ community in the borough will unveil a specially curated programme of performances, events and moments of reflection.

The official launch of the festival will take place on Waterside Plaza on Wednesday 15 May, marking The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

The Chief Executive of Trafford Council will officially declare the opening of Pride In Trafford 2024 by raising the Pride flag, alongside local school children who will perform songs to unify and celebrate diversity.

Brand new for this year’s event is the Block Party Weekender, a two-day celebration to close the festival, championing inclusivity and unity with live performances, family activities and comedy on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 May.

Elsewhere, this year’s event has a particular focus on community engagement and developing new queer talent, starting with The Queer Creatives Assembly, a free event open to all who wish to connect, collaborate, and celebrate with other LGBTQ+ creatives from Greater Manchester.

Expect vibrant conversations, meaningful connections, and a chance to network and hear from queer artists and makers supported through Creative Industries Trafford.

Pride In Trafford will also offer a much-needed outlet for the younger members of the community, once again joining with local groups Gorse Hill Studios and Rainbow Reflections to present a fun and free hands-on Pride evening.

On Thursday, Laugh Riot Comedy Night will once again return with the very best in alternative comedy, boasting a bumper line-up of LGBTQ+ comics.

Producer for Pride In Trafford and Manager of Waterside, Darren Adams said: “I’m really excited for this year’s Pride In Trafford; the festival champions LGBTQ+ arts as a powerful vehicle for expression, representation, and social change.

“Through our celebration, we not only showcase the incredible talent within our community but also create a platform where LGBTQ+ voices can be heard, and celebrated, and our communities’ stories can be shared.”
