The original Manchester Record Store Day all-dayer is here again! Soup Kitchen have always supported that time of year when everyone comes together to celebrate all things vinyl and the independent music stores who provide it!
However, they’ve also always used the day to focus on the new and exciting, and so whether you’ve got up early to make it to Piccadilly Records, Vinyl Exchange, Eastern Bloc Records or your store of choice or not, head over to Soup Kitchen to catch who they believe are some of the most exciting new artists the region has to offer!
– Signed to Tim Burgess’ O Genesis Recordings, the Macclesfield group deal in dark, glinting post-punk and have appearances at Kendal Calling and Blue Dot Festival lined up.
– Returning for their first hometown public show in nearly a year, the noise rock group have bulked up to a four piece and have new material to air following their Sways Records-released debut LP, I Want You To Destroy Me. “Quite brilliant” – The Quietus
Favourites of Marc Riley and BBC 6music, Mother are another group with new material in the works, the group adding new, harsher edges to their ethereal ambient pop.
Reminiscent of anything from Dean Blunt to Nine Inch Nails, Werk have released two tapes so far on their own I Hate My Records imprint, varying from brutal industrial rock to manipulated samples and chopped up vocals.
Formerly Mothers, the Widnes trio have quickly established themselves as one of the most popular bands within Manchester’s noise rock scene, appealing to everyone from the heads to the punks.
Electronic duo with only a couple of videos to their name, they deal in murky, sparse soundscapes and can already count appearances at Manchester Psych Fest and supporting Gang of Four to their name.
