If you’re in need of a new outfit that doesn’t break the bank or damage the planet, then look no further than Stockport Town Hall this April.
On Sunday 10th from 10am – 4pm, the UK’s biggest vintage kilo sale will set up camp, featuring endless rails of corduroy trousers, 70s shirts and your grandad’s favourite ties – but all you’ll pay for is the weight.
If you’re not familiar with the kilo sale, lean in a little closer.
The lovely lot behind the concept, Worth The Weight Vintage, will bring nine tonnes of handpicked vintage stock to each event for you to have a proper good rummage through.
They’ve got one-of-a-kind pick and mix mens and women’s vintage clothing from the 60s-90s, including all of your favourite branded names.
Stock is constantly replenished throughout the day, so no matter what time you arrive, rails will always be fresh and full of unique gems.
There’s no minimum or maximum spend at the events, so you can pick as little or as much as you want. Basically, 100g will only cost you a quid.
Larger items such as coats are capped at £20, and if you find any item weighing 1 kilo or more you will only pay a maximum of £20 for that item. You’re encouraged to point out heavy items at the till to redeem your discount or goods will be weighed at £20 per kilo.
Once you’ve finalised your bag of vintage goodies, head over to the weighing stations where the friendly team will tell you what you’ve spent! That’s it!
The vintage kilo sale is not only a fun day of eagerly anticipated shopping, it also highlights the importance of collectively changing our shopping habits to protect the planet.
Shopping vintage exclusively, or making a conscious effort to seek out vintage alongside our consumption of high-street or fast fashion is an important and fairly small change we can make to reduce our carbon footprint.
Finding one-of-a-kind vintage pieces is also an absolute treat, as if you spend your life trying to avoid the latest trends, you can be sure that you won’t awkwardly bump into someone wearing the exact same ombre beaded mohair jumper you had to get your hands on.
