When you think of Ibiza you think of partying in DC10 until 6am, a 2 hour kip on a sun lounger, a Miami breakfast and then doing it all over again until returning to the UK in a body bag!
Ibiza is an island of white beaches, picturesque views, clear seas, and a little techno for the young at heart! The island has been made famous by international DJ’s and super clubs but that is just a very small part of the personality of this beautiful Balearic island.
What lots of people don’t realise is that this is just a small part of the island and in fact there is some Balearic beauty hidden in gorgeous sunsets, breath-taking beaches and food that tastes even better washed down with the islands speciality, Cava Sangria!
Therefore we’re going to attempt to give a rundown of, what is essentially the “un-obvious hidden gems”
Hacienda Na Xamena and La Posidonia
While Ibiza is only a 2.5 hour flight from the UK, when you land it’s imperative to get into the Balearic laid back vibe. We’re not suggesting you meditate or do a ‘Downwards Dog’ overlooking Es Vedra, just simply take the scenic route up a cliff side on the north of the island to the stunning hotel Hacienda Na Xamena.
Attached to the hotel, the spa La Posidonia is a sanctuary set in a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean and Ibiza’s most famous sunset. Inside, each whirlpool will revitalise all of your senses and infuse a deep overflowing sense of relaxation. What’s more, the experience can be washed down with fresh fruit and juices to cleanse from within. It’s dead romantic!
La Luna Nell’Orto
By this point you will probably be ready for a G&T! Head down the road to a locally run restaurant named La Luna Nell’Orto where the twinkly lights will lead you to a garden in the heart of Sant Miguel. Set under a ginormous tree in probably one of the most romantic settings in Ibiza, the menu is fresh seafood with an Italian twist. Whilst one of our most favourite restaurants, it is also fantastic value for money.
El Chiringuito Cala Gracioneta
El Chiringuito, translates to small beach or bar serving drinks and tapas, and Cala Gracioneta may be small but makes up for it with a big personality! It’s a rustic, organic Beach Club and is perfect for a chill day away from the San Antonio where sun beds can be rented in the tiny cove. Come evening, we recommend you retire in to the bar and restaurant where the sunset is like no other and the paella the best on the island!
Amante
After living the rustic life, the next Beach Bar is high-end and perfect for “clean sunbathing.” Set on a cliff side, Amante is filled with the kind of people who have just stepped off their yacht. Be sure to book as it gets very busy and don’t go here if you love going for a dip as the sea is a bit of a cliff hike to get to!
KM5
KM5 is super-famous and one of the longest standing restaurant lounges on the island. Set exactly 5 kilometres from the airport, each waitress is perfectly groomed and serves in the white shisha garden lounge. There is a house DJ, body painting, Ibiza angels offering massages and of course – amazing cocktails. Our recommendation – try the steak!
Locals Only
In contrast with KM5 is “Locals only“, where locals are welcome from all over the world and the menu consists of local produce only. Set in the hustle and bustle of Ibiza Town, this little street cafe offers amazing food with an Italian twist! Even though it may not sound like much, we feel like you just need to take our word on this, please go and try it! It’s just amazing!
