I once arrived at Arley Hall and was immediately put on the back foot by what transpired to be the lady of the house shouting at me through a car window for using her bin, in my defence it was in the middle of the car park.
However undeterred I ventured on and got some lunch in what is probably one of the best hall and garden cafe’s around.
Arley Hall features elaborate ceilings & oak panelling, impressive fireplaces, intricate stained glass and a plenty of beautiful pieces of furniture and contents. The Hall standing was built between 1832 and 1845 and truly is something to behold.
For me however Arley Hall is less about the building itself and all about the gardens, indeed it’s claim is as one of the finest in Britain particularly celebrated for the magnificent double herbaceous border.
On a clear sunny spring day the gardens are a great place to stroll and get those all important Instagram moments, of which there are plenty.
The Gardener’s Kitchen cafe / restaurant serves the best country hall food you’re likely to find and trust me when I say I’ve ventured far and wide and still come across no better offering, if you live near by it’s worth the trip there for lunch alone.
