The Manchester Print Fair returns to the city, celebrating the best of design, art, photography, traditional print making skills and digital techniques at 2022NQ.
The Manchester Print Fair returns to the city, and this latest instalment takes residency at Manchester’s newest creative-hub, 2022NQ. Established as an independent arts fair in 2011, by designer Alessandra Mostyn; this is the fourth instalment of the fair, which has become a key event in the city’s cultural calendar. It is renowned for celebrating the best of design, art and photography, and includes an exciting and diverse selection of artists, zines and other design-led collectives, with strong ties to Manchester’s creative scene and those from further afield.
This year’s showcase features a wide – range of burgeoning artistic talent and more established artists. Collectively, they embrace all types of subject-matter, from the every-day, to more conceptual based designs and contemporary culture, whilst displaying traditional printmaking skills, alongside digital techniques.
Artists featured this year include, Manchester-based screen printer and illustrator Savwo, who creates distinctive designs, inspired by 1950’s horror comics and the band, Throbbing Gristle. Emerging aritsts’, Lyndsey Greene, Jamie Mills and Chloe Nugent find a platform for their original work, utilising hand-drawn and digital methods to create one-off works, referencing nature, native America and horror films.
Also in this year’s showcase, Manchester design-led collective, Owt Creative, who started life as Owt Zine, and have steadily evolved as an energetic multi-disciplinary collective, will be displaying their latest creations and giving us an insight into how applying an alternative approach to web, print, book binding, creative design, and art direction, has enabled them to gain the creative ‘edge’ in Manchester.
Additional exhibitors include, Ultimate Holding Company (UHC), based at Manchester’s Hotspur house, who will also be displaying a selection of work, created in collaboration with illustrator Catherine Chialton, featuring graphic design, illustration and self-publishing. The fair will also feature zines, Brainstorm, the Lab, Websites are Lovely, Young Explorer, and Icecapades Record’s collective, as well as Manchester Municipal and Textbook Corporation.
Simon Misra’s vibrant and cartoonic inspired illustrations will also be on display, alongside newcomers, Camille Smithwick, Caroline Dowswett, Thomas Harnett O’Meera and Joshua Brent.
Hope House prints will be also be exhibiting and hosting workshops throughout the day.
Workshops and activities will run throughout the day, led by Hope House prints demonstrating screen printing techniques, with opportunities for everyone to join in and make their own original print. Visitors will also have the chance to purchase a selection of limited edition items, including printed bags, t-shirts, records, and limited edition art works.
