What: The Vintage Sports Company, situated in Afflecks Palace.
Fashion and football have always been closely linked, this Manchester based store offers sport fans a trip down memory lane through retro and replica football shirts and jackets from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.
Founded by Paul Codd and Jack Carpenter, the company initiative is a boyhood vision and love for the world of sports that they want to share with their ever-growing customer base. The initial idea came after Paul was made redundant from his job as an account manager for a popcorn manufacturer. The lifelong football fans, both Manchester United supporters , took advantage of Jack’s background as a web designer to launch online.
The business is now 7 months old and they have already caused a stir in the press featuring in The Daily Star online, The Sun, Talksport and in local newspapers. They have relocated to a retail space 4 times the size of the original store. In store you can find a display of vintage footballs from the 1950’s onwards, a football table, playstation 2 and a dartboard for customers to enjoy. A truly unique shopping experience situated in Afflecks Palace on Oldham Street.
The store is set to become a favourite for Manchester’s sports lovers, and family and friends seeking thoughtful gifts for the fashion focused sports fan, the retro football shirts even come in beautiful presentation boxes. However, this venture is not limited to the store, products are available on their website.
